FUNDAMENTAL GYMNASTICS AND TUMBLING
Students will explore and learn basic gymnastics and tumbling movements. Including individual and partner gymnastic movements. The 8th grade gymnastic unit introduces students to elements of cooperation, balance proprioception (where your body is in space), coordination, core body strength, upper and lower body strength.
Three (3) Basic Axes of Movement
(1) LONGITUDINAL (2) ROTATIONAL (3) TRANSVERSE (Traveling)

CREATE A GROUP ROUTINE:
From the downloadable chart below, choose at least three (4) moves from each of the categories. Ideally, there should be
four (4) columns, with the fourth (4th) column being "Partner Stunts". Spend time outside of school as well as during class to master a variety of these moves. Then coordinate with all group members to develop a written twenty (20) move routine that you will physically perform and present either to the class or me.
The Four (4) Categories are:
* Balance and Strength
* Jumping and Landing
* Weight Transfer
* Partner Stunts
