HPWB Alternative assignment (Essay)
The four (4) major types of essays address these purposes:
Grade Credit
You may earn up to 50% of the missing assignment grade. A total of three (3) alternative assignments may be completed per grading period. The alternative assignment must be typed or neatly written. Please inform me of your topic choice before you begin, via email or written form and handed into me at class. All work that is to be considered must be turned in one (1) week prior to the next grading period.
Submit your alternative assignments to our class email in the assignment slot title, 'Alternative Assignments' at: [email protected].
Alternative Assignment Options
Activity-based: Any activity that we have or will cover in eighth (8) grade...Basketball, volleyball, softball, exercise and fitness equipment (fitness lab related). Assignments must be typed in 12-point font (Font: New Times Roman, Arial)
Health-based: PPP, Alcohol, tobacco, drugs, HIV/AIDS, STD's. Possible 2 out of 4 points for any assignments that you earned a zero (0) or one (1) point . Any assignments that were due in a previous grading period however are locked up and cannot be changed. This is an alternative assignment option for any of PPP assignments and you may potentially earn up to half credit (2 out of 4 points). The alternative assignment is a written assignment that needs to one page in length, 5-paragraphs. The page should be related to that particular PPP assignment, explaining two or three main points about that assignment that discuss the following: 1. What you learned. 2. Why you feel these main points are important to know. 3. How you can apply this information to your life and those in your life.
Citations and references are mandatory: Please use the APA style citation method. Your alternative assignment must include the resources that you used to write the assignment such as, internet articles, books, magazines, newspaper articles...etc. Include your citations as the last page of your assignment. The assignment must be in an essay format. It must be 2-3 pages in length and double-spaced. The topic you choose must be discussed in detail and must be either informational (Activity-based topics) or an argumentative style essay. For the informational style essay, you may wish to report on the development of a certain sport, a famous athlete related to that sport, or its history and origin. For the argumentative style essay, take a stand on either side and tell me the pros or cons of your chosen topic. For example, you may choose to discuss the effects of alcohol on the body or you may wish to discuss how certain medicines (drugs) help people or how they are sometimes abused by people.
